ABOUT THE ARTIST

Featured in Belle Magazine in 2008

Ann Crenshaw paints because it is enjoyable trying to solve visual puzzles. She wonders, “How do you take what you see and put it on a flat surface and then take the flat surface and make it look like you can reach into it?”

Ann is a student, constantly interested in whatever is around her. She has taken several classes from many wonderful teachers, and she is always impressed by how hard the teachers work to impart their knowledge and techniques with such giving spirits. Ann has always felt welcomed and accepted on any skill level, and she loves the sharing freedom of a classroom of workshop students. Crenshaw highly recommends taking a workshop to see how paintings evolve.

She is still a learner, and she hopes she will always be. Ann does not have any specialized focus on landscapes, still life, or figurative work. There is so much out there that she can’t settle down just now.
The main thing that painting has taught her is to look at something and then look at it again! What color is that shadow? What is the relationship between apples and oranges? Ann says, “This is a wonderful world. I love to look more closely at it!”
