Born and raised in Spartanburg, Quinn can’t remember a time when he wan't creating art. He has always wanted to connect with people through his work, creating opportunities to make viewers think. He has worked in many media and artistic genres, from sculpture, photography, and illustration to oil, glass, and gouache.
“I aim to draw viewers into another world, away from their usual perceptual habitats, even for just a moment,” he says.
about the work
Quinn says, “Sometimes it’s not even ‘seeing’ it but the sensing of it that makes me want to paint something—maybe I see something that not everyone else does.”
Often a phrase comes to Quinn’s mind that instantly generates a narrative, and from that, an image is born from the layers of realistic fiction, artful truth, and the subconscious.
Over the years, Scott Quinn has been honored with many recognitions and awards including Best In Show at the Spartanburg Spring Fling Sidewalk Art Show and Peoples Choice Award at The 40th Annual Artist Guild Juried Show. He has had the privilege of showing in the Greenville County museum Of Art, State Museum of South Carolina, and several solo and joint shows in Charleston and the Upstate.
Quinn was Juried into the Artist Guild of Spartanburg at 18 and now serves as its Vice Pesident. Quinn strives for growth, evolution, and excellence in his art.
